Global Human Milk Research Consortium – challenging the science, pushing the knowledge boundaries
GHMRC interdisciplinary activities
The GHMRC connects the LRF Research Centers through interdisciplinary research with an initial primary focus on improving outcomes for small vulnerable newborns.
Cornerstones of our interdisciplinary approach are a multi-year Fellowship Program, Early Career Researcher Projects, and a dedicated Small Vulnerable Newborn Cohort.
Fellowship Program
The Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Fellowship Program supports early career researchers through long-term, interdisciplinary projects conducted across two or more LRF Research Centers.
Early Career Researcher Projects
These collaborations bring together the LRF Research Centers’ diverse scientific disciplines. Projects we kick off concentrate on complex challenges in breastfeeding and human milk. With the Fellowship Program, these activities enable the GHMRC to generate high-impact evidence while strengthening global research capacity.
Small Vulnerable Newborn Cohort
Our initial, primary focus is improving outcomes for small vulnerable newborns through targeted, interdisciplinary research across multiple LRF Research Centers.
Maheshwar Bhasin becomes second Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Fellow
He was awarded the Fellowship in 2026 to support his first postdoctoral position.
GHMRC Meeting, Zurich 2025
Where are Early Career Researcher Projects conceived? GHMRC meetings are proving fertile ground! This year in Zurich, Annalee J. Furst, MAS of LRF MOMI CORE, led by Prof. Lars Bode, and Taha Elajnaf of LRF OCEHL, led by Prof. Fadil Hannan, were awarded the opportunity to investigate whether hormones influence colostrum and human milk oligosaccharides.
Bryony Davies becomes first-ever Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Fellow
She was awarded the Fellowship in 2025 to support her PhD position.
GHMRC Meeting, Zurich 2024
